This General Assembly Meeting was held on 10th February, 2026 at the Conference Hall of the Asante Akim Central Municipal Assembly.

The MCD, Mr. John Ankrah gave an introductory remarks by welcoming the house to a General Assembly meeting. He stated that the meeting is of essence to elect a new Presiding Member, since the tenure of the previous member has come to an end. He carried out a roll call recognizing the presence of MCE, Assembly Members, Guest of Honors and HODs.

MCD gave the floor for the Electoral Commissioner (EC) of the Asante Akim Central. The EC stated that only one person filed for nomination at her office which is in the person of Hon. Alex Nyarko. She further explained that since only one person filed for nomination, the election process is going to be a YES/NO response and the aspirant will require a total of 26 votes to be declared winner for the PM position.

After the voting exercise, a hundred percent (100%) votes were recorded in favor of Hon. Alex Nyarko. He was sworn in by the District Magistrate and MCD congratulated Hon. Alex Nyarko massive victory chalked.

The newly elected PM for the Asante Akim Central Municipal Assembly, the person of Hon. Alex Nyarko expressed his profound appreciation for the impressive support shown to him by the Hon. Assembly Members.

He then discussed the next agenda on the list which was choosing/reconstitution of conveners for the various sub-committees. After a successful deliberation old conveners were reelected by members of the respective committees.

The Presiding Member moved a motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion was therefore seconded by Assembly Members(The House).
